January 2020
First a little history. I worked for a year after graduation and then started college at UCA. I married Linda Davis in 1965 which was the best decision I have ever made. I got a master’s degree at UCA in 1969. We moved to Monet Missouri where I taught and coached football for two years. Our daughter Bonnie was born in 1969 and in 1970 we moved back to Conway Arkansas, and I went to worked for the Arkansas Department of Education. Our son Jeff was born there in 1971. We built the house we still live in during the 70s. I retired from the State Department of Education in 2013 as Assistant Commissioner. It was 43 years of an interesting, challenging, and satisfying experience. Now we still live in Conway Arkansas and both our children are married and doing fine. Jeff is in Little Rock and Bonnie in Texas. During the last 13 years of retirement, we have enjoyed lots of travel, at first mostly driving, then several cruises and later bus trips mostly with Little Rock Tours and Francis Tours. Lately it has been more reading, playing on the computer and watching TV. I am happy and fortunate to be where I am and how I am now!
I’m looking forward to visiting the website often to catch up with and hear about the people I know from Sylvan Hills. I plan to visit Sylvan Hills in the spring or summer this year - perhaps I’ll see some of my former classmates then.
After High School, I worked, married, raised three children, then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1984. I thoroughly enjoyed two different jobs, both in marketing, and had a blast living in Dallas. Retired in 2007, and moved to Woodland Park, Colorado where I opened a gift shoppe, then retired again in 2020. I stay active as, Tour Artisan for the annual Holiday Home Tour; Host for our monthly local artists group; Membership Chair for the Mountain Artists Guild; and serve on the board of the HOA in the community where I live. I’ve traveled a little but don’t enjoy it that much - I really enjoy being home, surrounded by the people and things I love most (my daughter lives here and my son visits often). I am blessed with good health and I’m very grateful for that and the life God has provided.
Charles Hinkson here, I got the email and have is a picture with me and my 3 sons and 3 grandchildren out of 10.
